Rick and Morty Season 4 Returns to Satiate the Sci-Fi Nerds in Us

Some TV shows are binge-watched and then there shows whose is waited for years by the audience. And waiting to binge-watch the entire season would be considered a sin for them. Shows like this are far and few, but when you find one getting so engrossed in it, to forget reality is inevitable.

Rick and Morty Season 4

This is a show that has been nominated for an Emmy more than once and won the “Outstanding Animation Program Award” in 2018 is not a show that anybody should miss.

This is a show that people had waited for over two years to make its comeback with an exceptional season 4.

This is one of the few shows that have been adapted into a comic book series. Usually, it is the other way around.

And this is a show that is a telecasted-on Cartoon Network, but is an adult animation science-fiction sitcom. The Cartoon Network Adult Swim allows the channel to air adult comedy in the wee hours of the night.

Yes, I am talking about the Rick and Morty show which is back after its mid-season break to blow the minds of the viewers with its creativity, hilarity and sci-fi brilliance.

The Story-Line for the Prospective Viewers

Imagine a grandfather and grandson duo. The granddad is a full-blown alcoholic with booze breath and is also a scientist who is both insane and cynical. Emmet “Doc” Brown from Back to the Future is an appropriate comparison in insanity. And the grandson is the opposite. He is a teenager with a good heart and no misgivings apart from being slightly distressed, that too only sometimes.

These two are the protagonists of the show, the grandfather is Richard “Rick” Sanchez, and the grandson goes by Mortimer ‘Morty” Smith. Both of these together juggle between family lives. The granddad and grandson are going along on the former’s interdimensional adventures.

In the first season, Rick came to live with his estranged daughter, Beth, after decades. She is married to Jerry with two children. When Rick starts involving Morty in his misadventures, Jerry, more times than not, is absolutely against it. And this is when the real chaos starts to happen.

I would have loved a granddad like Rick, entertaining and enthralling at the same time. Can a switch between I and Morty happen in the next season? I would have to talk to the creators about that, who by the way are Justin Roiland and Dan Harmon. I am your number 1 fan guys.

The Update for the Avid Fans

The show has run for 3.5 seasons already. It began airing on 2 December 2013. The first three seasons had a total of 31 episodes.

The fourth is said to have 10, out of which the first five had been telecasted last in November and December last year. And now, the wait is over.

The sixth episode has already been sired in the US and for us UK folks, it would be telecasted on 7 May 2020 at 10 PM. That is right. Tonight you can be ready a bowl of popcorn and a few cans of soda to enjoy all that the show has to offer. And trust it has a lot. You would not be disappointed by any means.

Not to be a spoiler, but aliens are to be expected in the next five episodes as well. It has been ages since I heard the voices of Justin Roiland, Chriss Parnell and Sarah Chalke playing Rick and Morty, Jerry and Beth respectively. Tonight seems too far to me now.

The Channel to Play

In the majority of the countries where this show is telecasted (because it is so good, the Americans had to share it with the rest of us), the airings rights have been purchased by Netflix, which is kind of obvious. However, not in the United Kingdom, where Channel 4, a public-service broadcaster would be airing the show from TODAY, the 7th of May until the next five Thursdays.

I have a legit Rick and Morty merchandise that I would be adorning while watching it. Since you can’t see a Manchester United game without wearing the jersey, you cannot see Rick and Morty without the merch. I may seem like a fanatic; that is because I am one.
